App Localization Checklist for Small Teams

localization

Small teams need localization work that can ship. The goal is not to translate the whole business at once. The goal is to pick a market, localize the right surfaces, and measure what changed.

Choose the market

Use keyword opportunity, existing impressions, competitor strength, revenue potential, and product readiness to pick the next country.

Localize the store surfaces

Update title, subtitle, keyword field, description, screenshot captions, screenshot examples, pricing, and support copy as needed for that market.

QA before upload

Check text overflow, device screenshot sizes, currency, screenshots, grammar, locale mapping, and whether the translated promise still matches the app.

Measure after release

Watch impressions, product page views, conversion, downloads, rank movement, reviews, and subscription behavior. That tells you whether the next locale deserves the same work.

Choose one market first

Small teams should start where demand, reachable competition, and product fit line up. Do not translate every locale before one country proves the workflow.

Localize the highest-impact surfaces

Start with title, subtitle, keyword field, first three screenshots, pricing, and support copy. These surfaces affect visibility, conversion, and trust fastest.

QA like a user

Check text overflow, screenshot readability, local examples, price display, App Store Connect fields, and whether the app itself supports the promise made in the localized listing.
